The Lockdown

Everything was going fine. People were going to their work; kids to schools, and suddenly our Prime Minister announced a one day "Janta curfew" in order to break the Corona virus chain.

The streets were empty, highways were quite, street dogs & stray animals were confused where everyone is gone? But everyone was in support of our Prime Minister to help him fight the nation's fight against Corona virus by staying at home as he said this curfew is "by the people, for the people". Everyone thought that things will be normal from next day. By staying at home, we can eradicate the virus in single day, but no, Mr. Prime Minister took the advantage of people being at their home & announced the nationwide complete Lockdown.

Yes, everyone was stunned by this announcement; especially the people depended on their daily earnings/wages like masons, cabbies, small scale grocers & vendors, etc. etc.

Many people were worried about installments they have to pay, many people were worried about medical expenses they were already going through, and many people were worried about how they will feed their family. Many people were worried about the house rent they have to pay. Yes, everyone was worried because they were not prepared for anything like this. Also, the government was aware of it, still there was no pre planning before announcing the nationwide lockdown.

It was just like they did at the time of De-monetization. No Pre-Planning, no nationwide management on how to handle this situation. People were left on their own. Government carried meetings on meetings afterwards.

They announced 3 months of loan moratorium with 3 months extra extension for middle class people who have to pay their loan EMIs, distributed free ration for poor people & rich were already making money by their either means/sources.

But, among all these things, the government forgot one main thing i.e. "Income". Either it is of government itself or the poor & middle class people who hold majority of "Vote Bank" in India. So many people lost their livelihood. So many people lost their job. So many people "DIED". Yes, many people died due to Corona virus but many people died due to lack of "Income". People with large savings or people who were still getting their salary credited during lockdown or were getting half paid or people earning through trading in stock market will never realize how it feels to be without "Income".

When people lost their "Income" got so much depressed that many of them have done suicide. Doctors say that they were not mentally healthy but I would say that they become financially ill.

Everyone talked about mental health during lockdown but no one talked about financial health. Riches don't have to worry about credits on them & rags will die due to credits eventually.

People become home sick, under debt, financially ill, bankrupt, lost their mental health, many become victim of domestic abuse, students were mocking their teachers in online classes, employees lost their personal space due to anytime availability during work from home & all this due to lack of Pre-planning of Government while announcing nationwide lockdown for unspecific time.

Even when now it’s been almost more than 6 months since the lockdown has been lifted, things are still not on track for majority of people & you will be shocked to know that Government still have no plan for them.

That’s all from my side.
